Golf cart with compressed air drive

Updated

If you were thinking of getting out your "Welcome to Planet Earth" sign then don't worry: it's a false alarm. Aliens have not landed - just the AirPOD, a fully terrestrial production from Luxembourg. Discussions are, it is true, still underway as to what extent it is in fact an automobile. But one thing is certain about what the AirPOD is supposed to be: the first revolutionary step in alternative personal transport, implemented by means of compressed air drive. Whether the price of around 6,000 euros is also sufficiently 'alternative' remains to be seen.

Let's take a closer look. For everyone who was enamoured by Germany's MuFuTi multi-functional table, it will be a definite must, since almost everything about this vehicle is multi-functional. For example, the windscreen serves as a door, the inside is redolent of a disco, being somewhat on the loud side and there is a definite rally driver's feeling, thanks to suspension that leaves not a little to be desired. Keen rail travellers will also appreciate the fact that you sit facing the rear in the back of the AirPOD. The first AirPODs are supposed to appear on the market from March of this year, by which time they will hopefully not have disappeared into thin air.
