16-year-old arrested after six women slapped on bottom by suspect riding a bike

A teenager has been arrested in connection with reports that six women were slapped on their bottom by a person riding a bike.

The alleged assaults took place on Newland Street West and Wellington Street in the west end area of Lincoln between the hours of 4.30pm and 7.40pm on Monday.

The women reported seeing a male on a bicycle who had ridden close to them before slapping them hard on their backsides.

Detective inspector Andy Wright-Lakin, from Lincolnshire Police, said a 16-year-old had been arrested: "I'm grateful to the women who have called us to tell us of their experience. We are listening.

“It's completely unacceptable and we will be doing all we can to investigate this.”

"Our community can help by providing any information they have. This, along with any CCTV footage or dashcam footage, will help to build a picture.

"I don't want this to happen to anyone else and appeal for anyone with information to get in touch."

The force are still appealing for information to assist their inquiry, including any dashcam footage that may be relevant.

Anyone with information are urged to call 101, quoting incident 152 of 5 October or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
