The wild animal charged him and tackled him to the ground before he could run away. Luckily, he was able to walk away from incident with only a bruised elbow and ego.

The footage shows the camera dropping to the ground as Wesley is attacked but he then picks it up and shakes off the scary encounter.

Posting the video on YouTube, he wrote: "I am so happy after this confrontation with a black bear during our spring hunt. No wounds except a bruised elbow and ego where the bear threw me down. Genuinely happy that this was a non-fatal or tragic outcome. Proving that the black bear is a wild and unpredictable animal. Again so happy with the outcome."

Speaking to CTV, he said that he believes the bear thought he was another bear as he has "a low voice".

He said: "I should have tried something else because upon re-watching it, it sounds like I grunted at him, which is probably not the best idea."

Wesley said that most bears will run away after getting a whiff of a human but "this guy, he slapped me around pretty good there".
