Elvis Presley’s plane to be auctioned


A private plane owned by Elvis Presley is set to be auctioned after sitting on a runway in New Mexico for 30 years.

Elvis had a penchant for planes, and the red 1962 Lockheed Jetstar was just on of a large collection.

The plane's interior has red velvet seats and a matching carpet, and offers the buyer a chance to totally renovate it.

According to the Telegraph, Liveauctioneers.com, which is handling the bidding, said: "This jet has the potential of being fully restored, and placed on exhibit for the world to come see."

The current owner of the plane used to offer tours of it, but there hasn't been a tour for around six years.

Fox News reports that GWS Auctions Inc, based in California, said the on its website that the sale would take place on 27 May, and that the value of the plane was estimated to be £1.5 million to £2.6 million.

The auction will also feature other celebrity memorabilia, including hand-written notes from the Beach Boys.

Elvis owned a number of planes, with the most famous being the Lisa Marie, named after his daughter.
