The UK's best attractions to visit in 2017
TripAdvisor has announced the top 10 trending destinations for 2017 based on the results of its Attractions Trend Index.
So if you're looking for a bit of inspiration to help entertain the kids, or plan a mini grown-up getaway, why not head down to Cardiff Bay's picturesque wharf or lose yourself in the lush greenery of Dean Village?

Compton Acres, Dorset
Compton Acres consists of 10 acres of ornamental gardens. There are five main themed gardens to explore: Italian, Wooded Valley, Rock and Water, Heather and Japanese.
The garden was started in 1920 when Thomas Simpson purchased the site including the mansion and set about creating a series of themed gardens to reflect his overseas travels, with the help of Mr Middleton, the Head Gardener.
Cost: Adult tickets are priced at £8.45 each.
Castle Howard, York
Castle Howard is a stately home located 15 miles north of York. The residence has been the home of the Carlisle branch of the Howard family for more than 300 years. Castle Howard has recently starred as Kensington Palace in ITV's new drama, Victoria.
Visitors to Castle Howard can explore its collections, architecture, learn about the family history and roam around its acres of gardens and woodland.
Cost: Travellers can book a full-day tour of Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey and the North York Moors on TripAdvisor from £45 per person.
Ridge Walk, Mam Tour, Peak Distict, Derbyshire
Located in the Peak District, Mam Tor and Losehill are arguably the area's most famous hills.
Visitors to the site should head over Mam Tor then follow the crest of the Great Ridge until its end at Losehill. This walk offers vast panoramic views into the heart of the Peak District, stretching north over the Edale Valley to Kinder Scout and the Derwent Moors.

Cardiff Bay, Wales
Cardiff Bay is a picturesque wharf lined with shops, boutiques and cafes in Cardiff. Visitors can tour the bay by bus, boat or on foot.
The waterfront of Wales' capital city is full of bars, restaurants and cultural attractions including the Millennium Centre, Norwegian Church and Doctor Who Experience, as well as stunning views.
Cost: visiting the Bay is completely free but activities such as the boat tour will cost £3.

Southend Pier, Essex
Southend Pier is the longest pleasure pier in the world at 1.341 miles long. Visitors to Southend Pier can enjoy fantastic 360 degree views and check out some of the events that take place all year-round from live music to puppetry.
Cost: Admission prices for adults are £2.00 if walking or £4.00 for a return train. Children get in free if walking or £2.00 for the train.
Heaton Park, Manchester
Heaton Park covers 600 acres and is the largest municipal park in the whole of Europe. Visitors can enjoy its boating lakes, see beekeeping demonstrations, see a variety of animals in the animal centre and take a ride on a tram.
The park grounds also include a Grade I listed, neoclassical 18th century country house, Heaton Hall.
Cost: It's free to visit the park.
Tate Modern, London
The Tate Modern is Britain's national gallery of international modern and contemporary art, containing the main collections of art from the 16th century.
The gallery has also recently undergone a new extension - a pyramid-style tower that allows even more room for the extensive art collection.

Chinatown, London

Dean Village, Edinburgh
