Impressive footage has emerged from the US of a woman rescuing a shark stranded on a beach in Sandy Hook.

The video, shot on September 20 in New Jersey, shows the shark lying on the shore.

The woman, Danielle, walks up to it and manages to get back into the ocean.

''We walk along the beach for sunrise every morning and came upon a shark stuck in shallow water,'' Danielle later wrote online.

''I had to keep the big dog away and then I put the shark into the ocean,'' she continued.
