A passenger on an Aer Lingus flight received a lovely message from her aunt - via the pilot and the plane's PA system.

The system is usually used to keep passenger's up to date with flight information, but one passenger got her very own personalised announcement on Monday.

Sarah McCarry was on the flight from Bordeaux to Dublin when she received the lovely surprise message from her aunt, who happens to work in air traffic control, reports the Mirror.

According to Dublin Live, the pilot said: "Aer Lingus flight from Bordeaux to Dublin.

"This is your captain speaking. We have received a message from London air traffic control.

"If Sarah McCarry is onboard, your aunt who works there says hello."

A fellow passenger on the plane, Crispin Rodwell, posted the incident on his Facebook page, writing: "Only on an Irish flight!".
