The world's best value city break destination is spectacular
Hanoi is the best value destination in the world for a city break, according to TripAdvisor.
The Vietnamese capital, which offers serene lakes, ancient pagodas and tree-lined boulevards, topped the TripIndex Cities, an annual cost comparison study.

When looking at the price of a three-night break during the summer travel period of June to September in 20 key tourist cities around the world, Hanoi was found to be the lowest cost destination with a short break costing less than £375, excluding flights.
In fact, the report shows that four of the top ten cheapest destinations are located within South East Asia: Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Bali, which take first, fourth, fifth and seventh places respectively.
Visitors to the cheapest destinations can expect to spend less on accommodation. In Hanoi, the average cost of accommodation for three nights is £177.46.
The entry fees for tourist attractions in Hanoi make up just one per cent of trip spending, with the destination predominantly offering free entrance.
However, when it comes to eating out, lunch and dinner in Hanoi are more expensive than in Cancun, Mexico, which features in the top ten most expensive destinations. Lunch for two people over three days costs an average of £63.20, while dinner comes in at £123.89.
These are still incredibly affordable when comparing the prices to the most expensive destination for a city break, New York, which will set visitors back £128.73 for lunch and £257.08 for dinner. The cheapest city for eating out is Cape Town.
In Europe, the best value destinations are Madrid, Berlin and Vienna, compared to the most expensive cities for a holiday, London, Paris and Rome.
