A Senegalese mugger nicknamed the 'giant' has been targeting British tourists in the Spanish resort of Magaluf, Mallorca, using bear hugs to squeeze his victims until they are unconscious before robbing them.

The 30-year-old man, who has not been named, targeted holidaymakers who he spotted drinking in the Punta Ballena area.

According to Euro Weekly News, the large man would grab the drunken tourists while his accomplices would search and steal from them.

Four attacks were reported in May alone.

Once he was identified by investigators at Guardia Civil, he was arrested but police are still hunting for his accomplices.

The Sun reports that he has also been accused of drug-related crimes after he was fund with cannabis resin.

Last year, Magaluf banned tourists from drinking on the streets over the summer.

Town hall bosses presented the new rules designed to prevent the drunken sex scandals that rocked the Majorcan resort a year earlier.

Police were given the powers to seize drinks from tourists on the street between 10pm and 8am.

Organisers were also banned from promoting drinking and sex games in their publicity, and only allowed to stage one bar crawl per day between 8pm and midnight for a maximum of 20 people.
