Best family hotels in the world 2016

Finding a child-friendly hotel can be trickier than it sounds. While most hotels allow kids, not many of them go out of their way to actively welcome them.

But if you're a parent, you don't need us to tell you that keeping the kids occupied and happy on holiday is pretty much the only important criteria on a family holiday.

So we're very pleased to reveal the top hotels in the world that make both kids and their parents, courtesy of TripAdvisor in its Travellers' Choice Awards.

Top spot goes to the Cavallino Bianco Family Spa Grand Hotel in Ortisei in Italy. This luxury Hotel is exclusive to families with children and provides a host of child care services to families during their stay including games and entertainment aimed at every age group.

One reviewers of the hotel raves: "If you want to enjoy a magnificent view, great living conditions, amazing food and great and safe activities for your children, this is the place to go". Another says:
"if you have kids, this hotel is the perfect solution. Food is excellent all along and the mini club amazing."

Second place was taken by Salinas do Maragogi All Inclusive Resort in Maragogi, Brazil, a new entry for 2016. The resort boasts a leisure area including tennis courts, volleyball courts, football pitches, games rooms and an aquatic complex and guests are welcome to hire any of the onsite babysitters while children under 12 travelling with an adult stay for free.
