Britain's best B&Bs 2016

Maxwell's Piece B&B in the Cotswolds has been named Britain's best B&B in the 2016 TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards.

The B&B, which travel reviewers praised for being "just superb" and as the "loveliest, most relaxing place" with the "most amazing hosts," is located in the countryside around a mile and a half outside Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire.

Owners Angela and Dave Hollingworth have been described as "kind hosts" and "very welcoming" by past guests.

The B&B offers three double bedrooms with larger than average beds and luxury en-suite bathrooms, with a spacious shower, large bath and complimentary toiletries.

Maxwell's Piece B&B was also named the second best B&B in the world after Casa Portagioia in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy.

With nine of the world's top 25 B&Bs hailing from the UK this year, including four in the top ten, Britain dominates the B&B category in 2016.

As well as Maxwell's Piece B&B, Sayle House in Cambridge, South Lodge Guest House in Bridlington and Llanarthney's Llwyn Helyg Country House take fifth, sixth and seventh place in the world respectively.

Meanwhile, celebrity chef Raymond Blanc's Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons is Britain's best hotel for 2016.

The upscale Oxfordshire bolthole was also named the third best hotel in Europe and sixth in the world in the 2016 Travellers' Choice Awards.
