Low-cost transatlantic airline WOW Air has announced the arrival of cheap flight to California from London for just £139 one way commencing in June.

Following the success of the airline's budget flights to Boston and Washington DC in 2015, it will fly from London Gatwick or Bristol to Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) via Iceland.

Bargain hunters can book the affordable flights now for travel from 9 June to San Francisco and from 15 June to LA.

The flights, via Reykjavik, will take place four times a week to Los Angeles with five weekly flights to San Francisco, all year round.

Skúli Mogensen, founder and CEO of the WOW Air, said: "The addition of Los Angeles and San Francisco to our rapidly expanding network is a game changer for WOW air as we cement ourselves as the industry leader in the ultra-low-cost long haul category. We always aim to be the cheapest flight provider on the routes we fly to and with the £139 fare between the UK and California we have accomplished this once again."

The airline's A330-300 aircraft will carry up to 340 passengers, offering 30 inches of legroom as standard and 34 inches at an additional charge.
