British tourist found dead on Thai backpacker murder island



A British holidaymaker was found dead in a hotel swimming pool on the same island in Thailand where backpackers Hannah Witheridge, 23, and David Miller, 24, were murdered in September 2014.

Luke Miller, 27, was discovered floating in the water at the hotel on Koh Tao on Friday, ITV News reports.

Thai police are investigating his death and the Foreign Office is assisting his family.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Luke flew to Thailand with a friend from the Isle of Wight in December for a five-week holiday.

On New Year's Eve, Luke posted on Facebook: "Can honestly say this new year I am living the dream of to the full moon party on a speed boat drink cocktails strawberry daiquiris living life to the full yolo so let's do this."

A fundraising page has been set up to bring his body back to the UK.

British backpackers Witheridge and Miller were found bludgeoned to death on the island and two Burmese men were sentenced to death for the killings on Christmas Eve.

In 2014, a new book named Thailand the "most dangerous tourist destination in the world".
