Château Les Carrasses is the ultimate family-friendly holiday in France. A stylish 19th century château in the French Languedoc, it's comprised of 28 unique, elegant one to three bedroom self-catering residences, blending the space, freedom and privacy of a luxury villa, with first class facilities. Basically, you can't go wrong here.
Making your way up the picturesque winding driveway with the majestic château standing proudly against a piercing blue-sky-backdrop, you'd be forgiven for giving yourself an inner high five at finding an apparent piece of paradise in France.

What's to love?
The 19th century château is situated in a vineyard, offering idyllic views and surroundings. The bar, bistro and (huge) pool are the first things you'll come across and the high-end styling and finish is immediately apparent. This is luxury self-catering with a laid back atmosphere for a relaxing yet stylish holiday.
Above the infinity pool, there's a large bar and terrace, with a modern French decor, including rattan furniture rubbing shoulders with wine barrels and crates decorated with candelabras and urns filled with flowers. Lazy lunches and a bottle of the house rosé here are daily essentials.
So, when you've eaten, drunk and sunbathed, what's left to do? There's a new clay tennis court, a boulodrome and children's play area, and bikes that you can take out anytime for a trip around the vineyard and olive groves, or through to the nearby Canal du Midi.
The Salon, meanwhile (pictured middle), is the heart of the chateau, and is home to the concierge, boutique, lounge and indoor brasserie.
There's also an Orangerie (designed by Gustave Eiffel) packed with books. We couldn't think of anywhere prettier to pull up a pew for a read.
Best rooms in the house
We stayed in one of the Les Maison de la Cave properties, three-bedroomed houses with private pools and south-facing terraces. These houses are connected to the main château and were once the west wing of the winery building. We couldn't have been happier here: the interior was chic and modern, and the pool was warm and well-maintained.
Le Grand Salon (pictured below), a huge two-bedroom apartment in the main building, has very elegant fittings, and is also often chosen by brides getting married at the château.
The estate offers 28 suites, villas and apartments and, after a good nose around, we can assure you that every level of accommodation is luxurious.
This place is perfect if you...
Are a family wanting a child-friendly escape, or a couple looking for a romantic retreat. It's easy to wax lyrical about a French chateau, but this really is one of our favourite holiday spots in France.
If you're visiting with no kids, you might think about splashing out on a property with a private pool. The main pool is lovely but can be busy with families in peak times.
