The Bodrum Peninsula has long been a popular holiday destination with tourists and beach bums from all over the world - not surprising considering it boasts some of the best beaches in Turkey. But for those who are keen to do a bit more than just fly and flop, there's a whole array of fascinating things to do in this fascinating region.

To get some insider tips, we got together with Journey Anatolia and asked them pick some of the must-sees and dos in the area, Below, the company's founder, former film-maker, Serkan Cetin, gave us his personal low down on the top 10 things to do, with an emphasis on getting to know the culture first-hand and exploring some off-the-beaten-track destinations.

Serkan's top tips include taking a day trip to nearby Yalivak, where you can admire the stunning yachts that can be found in the waters in the bay. The picturesque town can be found on the north western side of Bodrum and boasts beautiful, white sand beaches and a host of great fish restaurants.

Whether it's experiencing some real ancient history at the mausoleum at Halicarnassus and Bodrum's amphitheatre, enjoying the peace at Gumbet beach or taking in the the view with a drink at one of the peaceful waterside restaurants in Gümüşlük, check out the best things to do if you're on holiday in Bodrum.
