Singer Will.i.am claims he was kicked out of a United Airlines airport lounge because staff thought his membership card was fake.

The Black Eyed Peas singer took to Twitter to criticise the airline after he was told to leave the first class airport lounge.

Will.i.am wrote: "#unitedAIRLINES is the worse. Im a member & I have my card to prove it. but they tell me my card is fake & kick me out the lounge #ouch".

The Voice coach then tweeted a photo of the United Global First Lounge sign and wrote: "Ha ha ha I got kick out the club...#unitedCLUBsucks..."

Another tweet, accompanied by a chair at the airport, read: "I fly so much...a business should know who their customers are...its ok im making this my lounge".

It seems the airline didn't pick up on his tweets and give him access to the lounge as the rapper then posted a tweet about the pilot asking him for a photo.

"I get kicked out of the @united lounge because they say I'm not a member.. oh well.. & then the @united pilot asks me to take a selfie #WTF," he wrote.

But he later added: "He flew us to our destination safely...that's what's important...I'm over being kicked out the lounge..."
