Video: Seal refuses to leave teenage diver's side off Isle of Man

Updated

A 15-year-old boy diving off the Isle of Man made friends with a wild seal which didn't want to leave his side.

Jamie Gallacher befriended the animal during a dive close to the Calf of Man.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: "I didn't know how to react but it was incredibly playful, just like a big puppy. I feel very lucky."

Jamie was with his diving instructor Michelle Haywood, who had an underwater camera to film the encounter.

Haywood said: "We often come across seals but for one to come this close and want to stay around for so long, is unusual. It was amazing."

According to the Daily Telegraph, Haywood said the seal tugged at their fins to get their attention before having fun with the pair, swimming away and returning "like an excited little puppy".
