Twilight star Robert Pattinson has been cautioned by authorities in South Australia for riding a bicycle without a helmet.

The 26-year-old actor was photographed cycling in Adelaide, the state capital of South Australia, wearing only a baseball cap turned backwards, Sky News reports.

Local law insisted cyclists must wear an approved helmet, which is properly fastened.

According to the Daily Telegraph, police were alerted after the photo appeared in the local newspaper, the Adelaide Advertiser, earlier this week, and officers reportedly spoke to the actor's management team.

R-Patz was issued with a warning but escaped having to pay a $90 (£59) fine plus a $60 (£40) victims of crime levy.

He was warned that he would be fined if he was caught again.

A South Australian police spokesman confirmed that the star had been 'cautioned' and that officers were 'confident Mr Pattinson is now well aware' of the local laws.

'He was spoken to and told of the requirement to wear a helmet when riding a bike in the state of South Australia,' he said.

'He was just told of this requirement... and cautioned.'
