Randy couples having sex 800ft up The Shard

Thrill-seeking couples in search of breathtaking views across London are taking to the skies and making love during tours of the 800ft Shard.

The Daily Mirror reports that amorous couples have been using the gents' toilets on the 68th floor for secret sex romps, where there are full-length windows offering brilliant views across the capital.

But workers discovered the sex after a black thong was found in the toilets at the end of an exclusive party in the tallest building in Britain.

Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph reports that The Shard is bringing in a team of lawyers to investigate the allegation and a spokesman for the building said the underwear could have been 'planted'.

'There is absolutely no evidence people were having sex,' he added.

The Shard opens to the public on 1 February and there are fears the attraction could become a hotbed for lovers wanting to spice up their sex lives.

The practice of sex in the 1,016ft skyscraper has been dubbed the 'almost mile high club.'

For couples who want a discreet rendezvous in The Shard, the 200-room Shangri-La hotel will open later this year and occupies floors 34 to 52.
