Video: Man narrowly escapes death on level crossing train tracks






The moment a reckless man narrowly escapes death has runs over a level crossing as a 1,000-tonne train charges towards him has been caught on camera.

CCTV footage of the incident that occurred in Lincoln at 3.34am on 14 December was released after plans were to build a footbridge over the High Street crossing were unveiled on Tuesday.

The man is shown swinging his leg over the barrier after crossing, just a second before the train thunders passed at 40mph.

Phil Verster, route managing director for Network Rail told The Sun: "This individual had a very lucky escape and these images reinforce the need for us to take action at both level crossing sites in the city.

"We are acutely aware of this need and continue to seek the best possible solution for the High Street level-crossing."
