The search for a man believed to have fallen from a boat near the Dorset coast was called off after a three-hour operation.

BBC reports that an alarm was raised when two men were seen clinging to the side of an overturned boat near the entrance to Poole Harbour at 10am on Sunday.

The search for a third man who was on board was carried out by two coastguard helicopters and four RNLI lifeboats.

ITV.com reports that police believe the missing man is 5ft 8in tall and aged in his 30s. In a statement made, Dorset Police said: 'Three men were believed to be on board the vessel before it overturned. Two men were found and taken to Poole General Hospital suffering from severe hypothermia. Despite a search operation being carried out by the Coastguard, the RNLI and Dorset Police, the third man has not yet been found.'

Coastguard and lifeboat volunteers also carried out a search along the shoreline.
