Legoland 'power cut closure' adds to Bank Holiday misery

As if the grey skies weren't enough to dampen the Bank Holiday spirit, there was extra misery for holidaymakers heading to the Legoland theme park in Windsor - when they arrived to find it closed due to a power cut.

According to a report in the Guardian, the attraction, which brings in 1.3 million visitors a year, suffered a power cut shortly before its 10am opening time on Sunday.

A message was posted on the Legoland Windsor Facebook page saying a power failure had forced the park's closure, and that anyone with pre-booked tickets could use them at Chessington World of Adventures, around 30 miles away.

The site was soon flooded with comments from tourists who had spent hours "sitting in traffic" to get there.

The news caps off what can only be described as a miserable May Bank Holiday, with temperatures dropping lower than the Arctic this weekend.

The mercury fell as low as 6.2C yesterday, and weather experts predict there will be more downpours next week.

Netweather forecaster Paul Michaelwhite told the Mirror: "There was a taste of winter over the weekend and Monday rain sets the scene for a wet week with the chance of the April monsoon returning."
