Video: Cheetah held at Heathrow Airport

Updated

A cheetah en route from a South African safari park to Russia is being held at London's Heathrow Airport by UK border officials.

Suspicions were raised after is was discovered that the animal's identity microchip was missing.

These devices are used to tackle the illegal trade in animals: the absent chip represents a breach in the Convention in International Trade in Endangered Species.

Two female cheetah were allowed to continue their journey, but another male was sent back to South Africa, according to a BBC report.
