Luckless Toulon winger Vincent Clerc is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing an Achilles operation once again on Monday.
Clerc, who has 67 France caps, suffered a complete rupture to his left Achilles during Sunday's 30-6 Top 14 drubbing at Clermont Auvergne.
He only recently made his comeback for the three-time European champions after recovering from surgery on his right Achilles in September.
The veteran now faces a battle to return to full fitness at the age of 35, with his season almost certainly over.
France head coach Guy Noves spoke to his son-in-law Clerc on the phone and later revealed to RMC: "I told him there are more serious things in life. He'll bounce back, give him time."
Clerc won the last of his 67 caps for Les Bleus against Scotland almost four years ago.
