Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Nick Young is set to undergo an MRI scan after straining his Achilles tendon in the 105-88 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday.
Young sustained the injury when he contested a layup just two minutes into the match at Staples Center.
The 31-year-old is scheduled to have an MRI on Wednesday in Illinois with the Lakers on the road to face the Chicago Bulls.
The loss of Young is a blow for head coach Luke Walton, who is already without point guard D'Angelo Russell due to a knee injury.
"It'll be tough. Without breaking up that second unit, the filling in the shooting guard spot while D'Angelo is already hurt, we'll have to get creative on what we'll do there," said Walton.
Young missed last Friday's game against the Golden State Warriors due to a sprained toe but returned for Sunday's win over the Atlanta Hawks.
