Marland Yarde and Semesa Rokoduguni look set to battle it out for a place on the wing when England take on Australia at Twickenham on Saturday.
The duo each started one game during England's three November fixtures, with Elliot Daly and Jonny May preferred to face Argentina last time out.
However, Daly was sent off in the fifth minute of that clash for taking out Leonardo Senatore in the air, and the Wasps man was subsequently hit with a three-week suspension.
Both Yarde and Rokoduguni were retained in Eddie Jones' 25-man party on Tuesday, but only one is expected to start with May likely to keep his place.
Nathan Hughes is thought to be in line to replace the injured Billy Vunipola at number eight, with Jones due to confirm his matchday 23 on Thursday.
A win for England would see them complete a perfect record of 13 victories from as many Tests in 2016, a stunning turnaround after their World Cup group-stage exit under Stuart Lancaster last year.
