Neptunas finally beaten in Latvia

Updated:

Neptunas Klaipeda suffered their first defeat of the Basketball Champions League as the Group C leaders were beaten 66-61 by Ventspils on Tuesday.

The Lithuanians were 5-0 heading into their trip to Latvia, but found themselves five points down by the midway point.

A third-quarter recovery for Neptunas threatened to deny the hosts their third win of the campaign, but Ventspils - inspired by MVP Willie Deane - turned things around once more to claim a narrow win.

ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne closed the gap on Neptunas to one point thanks to their 83-63 victory over Rosa Radom, while EWE Baskets are also in hot pursuit after beating PAOK 67-62.

Muratbey Usak Sportif sailed past Openjobmetis Varese 87-64.

In Group E, MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg came from behind to edge Dinamo Sassari 80-79 and top the standings, while Le Mans Sarthe continue to set the pace in Group B, seeing off Maccabi Rand Media 80-72.

Pinar Kariyaka are hot on their heels after a 78-60 win against Khimik, while CSM CSU Oradea beat Kataja Basket 80-74.

In Group D's only match of the day, Mega Leks claimed their second win of the season in a 76-70 triumph over Telenet Oostende.
