Darkness led to the RSM Classic being suspended with four players locked in a play-off for victory on Sunday.
Camilo Villegas, Henrik Norlander, Blayne Barber and Mackenzie Hughes will have to return to the Sea Island Golf Club on Monday to complete the event.
Billy Horschel also reached the play-off, but the American bogeyed the first hole - the par-four 18th - to drop out.
The remaining quartet then managed pars at the same hole for a second time, with the par-three 17th their next test on Monday.
Villegas (two-under 68), Norlander (65), Barber (66), Hughes (69) and Horschel (68) had all finished at 17 under.
They were three shots clear of Jim Furyk (67), Jamie Lovemark (65), Ollie Schniederjans (68) and Pan Cheng-tsung (71).
All five players had birdie putts on the first play-off hole, before Horschel was eliminated.
Canadian rookie Hughes then went close to securing his first PGA Tour victory on the second, but had to settle for another par.
Of the four remaining players, only Villegas has won on the tour previously, with the last of his victories coming in 2014.
