When Conor McGregor is not winning UFC titles, he is helping to inspire his friends to victory inside the octagon.
Just a week on from becoming the first fighter to simultaneously hold belts in two weight divisions after knocking out lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in New York, history-making UFC champion McGregor was in the thick of the action as close friend and Straight Blast Gym training partner Artem Lobov earned the biggest win of his career in Belfast on Saturday.
With McGregor watching feverishly ringside at the UFC Fight Night event in North Ireland, Lobov outlasted Teruto Ishihara in their three-round affair.
Once the win was confirmed, McGregor made his way into the cage to congratulate and celebrate with Lobov.
"@TheNotoriousMMA gives me that confidence from facing him for many, many years," Lobov said post-fight.
McGregor is set for time away from UFC after making history at UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden.
With his girlfriend pregnant, UFC president Dana White said the featherweight and lightweight champion will not fight any earlier than May 2017.
