Donna Vekic will need to overcome top seed and defending champion Caroline Garcia if she is to go any further at the Engie Open de Limoges.
Vekic battled her way past Tara Moore in three sets on Thursday to seal her place in the last eight, but a much sterner test awaits her in the form of Garcia.
The home favourite cruised past Lucie Hradecka 6-3 6-4 in her second-round match and will hope to maintain her form against the sixth seed on Friday.
Joining Garcia and Vekic in the quarter-finals are Stefanie Voegele, and Alize Cornet, but seeds Pauline Parmentier, Sorana Cirstea and Mandy Minella are out.
At the OEC Taipei WTA Challenger, meanwhile, Marina Erakovic continued her progression with a 7-5 6-3 second-round win over Veronika Kudermetova.
Tatjana Maria is next up for Erakovic after her win over 2013 champion Alison Van Uytvanck, while Luksika Kumkhum and Chang Kai-chen also secured quarter-final berths.
