England squad know Fiji team - Hartley

Updated:

Eddie Jones may have delayed naming England's starting XV to face Fiji but captain Dylan Hartley says the squad "know the team" for Saturday's clash.

England were expected to announce their side on Thursday for the match at Twickenham but concerns over the fitness of some players prompted Jones to put the decision back a day.

Billy Vunipola, Nathan Hughes and Elliot Daly are all injury concerns for the Test, the second of four end-of-year matches for England.

Hartley, however, believes he and the squad already have a good idea of how they will line up and is confident whoever is called upon will deliver another victory.

"I know the team and the guys know the team, roughly," he told Sky Sports News HQ.

"We have trained well today, prepared well, we have one more day to go but we are looking forward to it,

"There have been much-documented injuries to the second row but we have seen Courtney Lawes and Joe Launchbury come back and do a fantastic job for us.

"Whoever plays, I am sure they will do a great job."

At his media conference on Thursday, Jones warned England not to be drawn into playing an expansive game by the flamboyant Fijians, something Hartley is also keen to avoid.

"We cannot get caught up playing an unstructured game of rugby, Fiji thrive on that," he added.

"We need to play controlled, structured rugby, which doesn't mean it's boring, slow rugby. We still want to play fast, front-foot, attacking rugby but we can't get into a loose game."
