Kaepernick won't vote in 2016 presidential election

Updated:

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, criticised as "un-American" for kneeling during the national anthem this NFL season, will not vote in the presidential election.

Kaepernick has said all along his protest is not aimed at the military but rather toward what he - and many others - perceive as unequal treatment of people of colour by law enforcement officers.

Increased racial tension has been used as a motivator by many politicians as reasons to go out and vote, but Kaepernick, who previously expressed his displeasure with both candidates in the presidential election, will not cast a vote.

He did not offer any further explanation to reporters as to why he would not cast a ballot.
