Zirakashvili signs three-year Clermont extension

Updated:

Georgian prop Davit Zirakashvili has agreed a three-year contract extension at Clermont Auvergne.

Zirakashvili joined Clermont in 2004 and has made 262 appearances for the club, winning the 2007 European Challenge Cup and Top 14 title in 2010.

The 33-year-old prop, who has earned 53 international caps for Georgia across three World Cups, will now remain at the French club until 2020.

"Dato's extension is a continuation of the project we have with the whole staff," said head coach Franck Azema in a statement.

"This was one of our priorities and we are very pleased to see him continue his career with us. In addition to being the strong and experienced prop that everyone knows on the pitch, he is also very important to the whole group, on and off the pitch.

"We are very happy and proud to have him for a few more seasons."
