San Antonio Spurs' Pau Gasol concedes he is unlikely to ever play for hometown club Barcelona again.
Gasol has become one of Europe's finest exports since leaving Catalonia to join the Memphis Grizzlies in 2001, going on to play for the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls before completing his recent switch to the Spurs.
The Spaniard won two NBA titles during his time with the Lakers but, at 36 years old, he feels he may never have the opportunity to make a triumphant return to Liga ACB.
"While I'm still playing in the NBA, my chances of returning to Barcelona are reduced," he said at an Iberia event on Monday.
"It's a nice idea, but less and less possible."
Gasol is a three-time Olympic medallist and former world champion with Spain and is determined to carry on representing his country for as long as possible.
"My idea of playing with the national team remains the same," he added.
"The approach will be to take each year as it comes, analyse how my body adapts to the workload and see how I feel at the end of the season."
