Night Race at Bristol postponed until Sunday

The Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway will now be a day race after rain postponed the 500-lap contest until Sunday.

With a 50 percent of rain for Sunday, the race could be stop-and-go like the 48 laps raced on Saturday.

The race even started late Saturday because of lightning. NASCAR dropped the green flag for 38 laps before another round of weather forced the cars to pit road.

After drying the track for nearly 90 minutes, NASCAR sent the field back onto the track for 10 laps under caution only to have more rain pelt the track, causing the postponement.

Kyle Busch is the current leader, with Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney behind him in second and third, respectively.

Carl Edwards, who won the spring race at Bristol, started on the pole Saturday but failed to lead a lap. He is in seventh place.
