Conor McGregor exacted revenge against Nate Diaz, winning their blockbuster rematch via a points decision at UFC 202 in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Undisputed UFC featherweight champion McGregor was stunned by Diaz in March, forced into submission at UFC 196.
But after months of training and taunts from both camps, McGregor came out on top in a war of attrition following five brutal rounds, with two of the three judges scoring the fight in the Irishman's favour.
Clinical in his approach, McGregor came out of the blocks, flooring Diaz early in the first round, while he continued to target the latter's right leg.
A bloodied Diaz was twice sent to the canvas at the start of the second, as he literally struggled to find his feet, though the American finished strongly, cornering McGregor.
Full of confidence and taunting McGregor, Diaz turned the fight in his favour with a flurry of punches rattling his Irish opponent, who was relieved to hear the bell at the end of the third round.
As much as Diaz tried to floor McGregor, he was unable to complete a take down, with the poster boy of UFC reigning supreme.
