Sharks maintain perfect record, Cheetahs keep pace

The Sharks put in a commanding first-half display on their way to a 41-20 victory over Boland Cavaliers, maintaining their perfect start to the Currie Cup season.

The visitors ran in four first-half tries at Boland Stadium to open up a 29-3 lead by the break, before taking their foot off the gas in the second as the Cavaliers crossed for three scores of their own.

That bonus-point victory sees the Sharks move a point clear of the Free State Cheetahs, who came from behind to win 32-25 at Western Province.

The Cheetahs were 10-0 down after 10 minutes, but the boot of Fred Zeilinga and a debut try for Nico Lee ensured they were in touch at 18-13 down at half-time.

Zeilinga continued to prove prolific from the tee after the interval, kicking 14 of the Cheetahs' 19 second-half points.

In the day's remaining fixture, the Blue Bulls battled to a 49-35 victory over the Eastern Province Kings.
