Olympic champions Usain Bolt and Wayde Van Niekerk were lauded after their victories in Rio on Sunday.
Bolt was compared to a cheetah after his latest 100 metre triumph, while Michael Johnson hailed Van Niekerk after the South African broke his 400m world record.
Just minutes after his third straight Games triumph in the 100m, Bolt was tweeting.
Jamaica Stand Up!!!-- Usain St. Leo Bolt (@usainbolt) August 15, 2016
This for you my people
Cleveland Cavaliers star and three-time NBA champion LeBron James had his own comparison for Bolt.
Nothing u can do vs that cheetah! #Bolt-- LeBron James (@KingJames) August 15, 2016
Even three-time heavyweight boxing world champion Lennox Lewis was thrilled for Bolt.
Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag felt sorry for Bolt's rivals, saying the 29-year-old would be competitive in motorsport.
Congrats, but this is not fair Bolt Ji,you should be in F1 race without a Car & I think u will still win with ur feet https://t.co/72oX3sBwKi-- Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag) August 15, 2016
The comparisons flowed, and former jockey A.P. McCoy had one relating to horse racing.
Unbelievable from @usainbolt bet he wishes he was a racehorse, he'd have some craic at stud!!-- AP McCoy (@AP_McCoy) August 15, 2016
As for Van Niekerk, whose phenomenal time of 43.03 seconds saw him break Johnson's 1999 mark, he was congratulated by the American.
