Chinese Divers Get Engaged at Olympic Medal Ceremony

Receiving an Olympic silver medal is undeniably special, but when Chinese diver He Zi took to the podium on Sunday night she received a little something extra.

Fellow diver and compatriot Qin Kai took to one knee and proposed to the women's three metre springboard runner-up, and people have had their hearts warmed by the gesture.

Fortunately for Qin Kai, a bronze medallist in the men's three-metre synchronised springboard last week, his girlfriend of six years said yes.

Newly engaged He Zi, who was not expecting the proposal, told the BBC: "He said a lot of things, made a lot of promises, but I think the thing that touched me the most is I think this is the guy I can trust for the rest of my life."

Some online were concerned, and some very curious, thinking about what might have happened in the live TV event.

Whilst some thought the spectacle of the proposal made it extra special...

Congratulations to the happy couple!
