Paul Pogba isn't playing but he's already making himself popular with Manchester United fans

Paul Pogba could have been making his Manchester United debut against Bournemouth - until a pesky suspension he picked up while playing for Juventus reared its head and spoiled things.

So instead of going head to head with Bournemouth new boy Lewis Cook in midfield on the south coast, he was watching on TV - and giving vocal support to his new team-mates for their first match of the season.

His tone may be more threatening than encouraging, but the sentiment's there.

And if his intention was to earn favour with any United fans who might still be sore that he chose to leave the club for Juve a few years back, it worked.

Some took a slightly more downbeat approach.

Pogba's good vibes seemed to do the trick though - shortly after he posted the video, Juan Mata put his side 1-0 up.

One other absent United player lending his support was Bastian Schweinsteiger, who was on board despite having been frozen out at Old Trafford.

Pretty classy from a guy who hasn't been near the first-team squad since Jose Mourinho arrived at the club.
