James Tedesco's season appears to be over after the Wests Tigers full-back sustained a suspected broken jaw in Saturday's NRL defeat against Gold Coast Titans.
Tedesco was helped off the field midway through the second half at Campbelltown Stadium after he was on the end of a high shot from Titans captain Ryan James.
Tigers coach Jason Taylor said: "It doesn't look good. He's got a suspected broken jaw. We'll leave it to the judiciary to sort it [potential punishment for James] out."
Jarryd Hayne added insult to injury by snatching a 19-18 victory with a last-gasp field goal to enhance the Titans' chances of sealing a place in the top eight.
Hayne was making only his second appearance in the NRL since returning to rugby league following spells in the NFL and rugby sevens.
