Ivo Karlovic will meet top seed Feliciano Lopez in the final of the Abierto Mexicano Los Cabos, after both won their respective semi-final matches on Friday.
After coming from a set down to defeat Marcel Granollers in the quarters, Karlovic had an easier than expected semi-final, going through after 44 minutes with Lajovic retiring hurt on Friday.
Karlovic - the third-seeded Croatian - was in control, taking the first set 6-2 and at 1-1 in the second, Lajovic's wrist problems came to the fore and he was unable to continue.
The world number 24 will now take on Lopez, who had to fight from a set down to claim a 2-6 6-3 6-3 victory over Pablo Carreno Busta in an all-Spanish semi-final at the ATP 250 event.
Lopez's serve failed to cause any trouble initially, with six double faults and a 64 per cent win rate on first serve, with Carreno Busta taking the first set.
It seemed to spark Lopez into action, with the win rate on first serve jumping to 94 per cent and capitalising on his one break point, to take the second set.
Lopez then got the crucial break in the second game of the third set, before breaking again in the ninth, to secure his spot in the decider.
