Rickie Fowler may be way down the leaderboard after two rounds of the Olympic men's golf competition, but he had a big star in his gallery on Friday in Rio.
Oscar-winning actor and fellow American Matthew McConaughey was watching on and Fowler explained the story behind their relationship.
"We've always followed each other on social media and we linked up this week," he said. "We've been texting and he said he was going to try to come out to the golf. [It's] pretty cool that he was able to make it.
"I know he's flying out this afternoon. I know he's been enjoying his whole Olympic experience going to some events. [It] just shows you how big the Olympics is. There's a lot of people that come in to watch."
Despite birdieing four holes Friday, Fowler had to settle for an even-par 71, leaving him four over for the tournament and almost certainly out of medal contention.
"I didn't hit it a whole lot better than I did yesterday," he added. "If I keep improving by four shots each day, I won't be in a bad spot."
