So, on a day of big transfers, both Manchester clubs have got their man. Paul Pogba has finally joined United and defender John Stones has parted ways with Everton to team up with Pep Guardiola at City.
Stones's £47.5 million move has raised title hopes, eyebrows and not least a huge reaction on social media.
City's acquisition was unofficially announced earlier than they intended, after they named him in their Champion's League squad on Uefa's website. Ryanair were quick to spot a marketing opportunity...

Sports broadcaster Jake Humphrey pointed out Paris Saint-Germain's David Luiz is still the most expensive defender after his £50 million move in 2014.

However, apparently this won't stop Stones' former club Barnsley celebrating; they will gain between £7 and £9 million due to a sell-on clause agreed when they sold him to Everton.

Many Everton fans were sad to see the defender go though, including the Toffees' midfielder Ross Barkley. "Gutted to see my mate leave today, going to miss him around the place and on the pitch. All the best lad." Barkley wrote on Instagram.
Sad to see Stones go, but I'm sticking with my 'happily sell anyone that was involved in that 3-0 defeat at Sunderland' transfer strategy.
