Remember when Andy Murray practised being a flag bearer during a rehearsal for the Olympics opening ceremony where he precariously waved the Union Jack across Princess Anne's face?

However, it seems the tennis star has put that embarrassing incident behind him as he led Team GB's Olympic hopefuls into the Maracana as the 2016 Rio Games officially opened to great fanfare.
Murray, the defending Olympic champion and two-time Wimbledon winner, held the Union Jack aloft with his left arm followed by the British contingent of athletes and Team GB members.
And everyone was impressed, including former Olympic athlete Sir Chris Hoy and fellow tennis player Heather Watson:
