Robbie Farah has been dropped for West Tigers' NRL clash with St George Illawarra Dragons on Sunday.
The New South Wales hooker will instead line up for the Tigers' second string side against the Newtown Jets on Saturday after being omitted from the first-team squad by head coach Jason Taylor.
Farah and Taylor have endured a fractious relationship over the past year, with the Tigers head coach revealing in the off-season that the 32-year-old was free to find a new club.
There was another twist on Wednesday, when Farah was left out of the side for the round 20 encounter at ANZ Stadium.
"This was not an easy decision to make, but I have selected the 17 players that I believe will give the club the best chance of victory against the Dragons," Taylor said.
"Robbie is understandably disappointed, but I have spoken at length with him that he will be given every opportunity to regain his position in the NRL team."
