Leeds Rhinos claimed their second victory over a top-two Super League side in as many matches as they kept Wigan Warriors off the summit in an 18-16 win at Headingley.
Having got the better of Hull FC last time out, Leeds - already consigned to the Qualifiers - held off a late Wigan fightback to climb off the foot of the table.
Tries from Kallum Watkins, Adam Cuthbertson and Brett Ferres, with only a Josh Charnley score in reply, put the hosts in firm control heading into the final 15 minutes of the encounter.
Jack Higginson and George Williams went over in quick succession to pile the pressure on Leeds in the closing stages, but the Rhinos held on to inflict Wigan's first defeat in eight matches.
There was another win for a bottom-four side in the day's other clash as Salford Red Devils triumphed 32-24 at Widnes Vikings, with Mason Caton-Brown scoring a hat-trick of tries.
Widnes kept pace with Salford's scoring for the most part, matching their visitors try for try.
However, Caton-Brown wrapped up the victory when he powered over to complete his treble late on.
