Pakistan's bowlers struggle at Hove

Pakistan's "bowl-off" to support Mohammad Amir and Yasir Shah in the opening Test with England produced mixed results on a tough day against Sussex in Hove.

Head coach Mickey Arthur had challenged Pakistan's bowling unit to stake their claim in the three-day tour match and they got their chance on Saturday.

But, having declared overnight, Pakistan toiled in the field as Sussex's openers plundered the runs.

Luke Wells (93) and Harry Finch (103) shared an opening stand of 212, Wahab Riaz (2-62) and Sohail Khan (0-79) taking a fair bit of punishment.

Wahab - who overstepped 10 times - returned later in the day to remove the top two and that prompted a Sussex collapse, the county side losing five wickets for 79 runs.

Sussex declared having scored 291-5 and got the early scalp of Mohammad Hafeez (23) - his fourth score under 25 of the tour - as Pakistan closed 71-1 with a lead of 143.
