Rudisha beaten by Rotich at Stockholm Diamond League


Ferguson Cheruiyot Rotich won the 800 metres at the Diamond League meet in Stockholm on Thursday as world-record holder David Rudisha could only manage fourth.

Rudisha is poised to defend his Olympic title in Rio this year but could not finish inside the top three. Kenyan compatriot Rotich claimed victory ahead of Pierre-Ambroise Bosse and Adam Kszczot.

Olympic bronze medallist Javier Culson triumphed in the 400m hurdles while a low-key 100m race went to Jak Ali Harvey and Ethiopia's Ibrahim Jeilan set a personal best in his 5000m success.

Kendra Harrison went back to the top of the standings in the women's 100m hurdles - beating fellow Americans Nia Ali and Queen Harrison.

Dina Asher-Smith was triumphant in the 200m, Ruth Jebet took the victory in the 3000m steeplechase, Novlene Williams-Mills claimed 400m success and the 1500m saw Angelika Cichocka cross the line first.

Olympic champion Renaud Lavillenie continued his dominance in the pole vault, Tom Walsh won the shot put, Christian Taylor was victorious in the triple jump and Ihab Abdelrahman beat Thomas Rohler in the javelin.

In the women's field events Ivana Spanovic was a narrow winner in the long jump, Sandra Perkovic took first place in the discus and high jump glory went to Ruth Beitia.
