It seems as though commentators Mark Lawrenson and Jonathan Pearce *might* have forgotten their discussion is being broadcast to thousands of people watching the Euro 2016 game between the Republic of Ireland and Sweden.

Serious question, do Jonathan Pearce and Mark Lawrenson know they're live on the BBC right now?
This is not the pub at 3am guys. #EURO2016

Some of the observations made about the players were just downright bizarre - and viewers were the first to pick up on them.

Jonathan Pearce and Mark Lawrenson talking absolute drivel in this commentary! ?? #IRLSWE

IRE vs SWE is so dull that the BBC commentators have taken to discussing the pronunciation of Walter Matthau's name #EURO2016

They couldn't work out whether they were going for that so-bad-it's-funny approach to commentating. But either way, they didn't think it was working.
Lawro's job as co-commentator seems to be one of occasionally making quips, that aren't actually witty #EURO2016

Thank goodness for the mute button. If it didn't exist I would have Van Gogh-ed myself twice to end the Pearce/Lawrenson agony. #Euro2016

Then, just when they thought things couldn't get any worse or weirder, Pearce shared a story about how he'd once talked to himself in front of a mirror for an hour-and-a-half in a hotel room, apparently without realising.

Pretty sure Jonathan Pearce just told an anecdote about when he sat in his hotel room talking to himself in a mirror, on live TV. #IRLSWE
